Books I Keep Recommending for the Beginning Entrepreneur.
I’ve noticed a common occurrence recently, I was finding people who wanted to follow their passions yet didn’t know how. See I was spending 5 weeks abroad, from Budapest to Bratislava to Vienna to Prague (where my father’s grandmother hails from) to Split and Dubrovnik with a quick stop in Mostar with superstar tour guide Marko – wow what an adventure that 24 hours was! Then off visiting my delightful pal from back in MBA grad school at the University of South Florida, super stud Olivier, in his hometown, the wild port city of Marseille. Afterwhich I went to hang with my best friend Drew Edwards, who married the beautiful, brilliant, lovely French Helene on the 4th of July 2015 (celebrating his loss of Independence – my words, really – haha) at my gorgeous unique wedding and event venue NOVA 535 here in beautiful sunny downtown St. Petersburg, Florida. Congrats to Drew and Helene!! =D
I’ve met a ton of friendly, warm and welcoming, smart and kind Europeans along the way. The one main thing that differs in our culture, aside from the upside-downness of the tiny espresso vs big cup of Americano – see if things were are they are stereotyped to be, then our fast paced hurry hurry the F-up American culture would embrace the tiny powerful and quick espresso, while the more relaxed and engaging Europeans would be enjoying their coffees longer….but that ain’t the case. So anywho, in reality, the major difference between us is that we Americans are much more Entrepreneurial.
We are not afraid to fail, to stop talking and get to the doing, to jump off that bridge w/out always having a plan (up front) on hitting the bottom. We Americans love to meet new people, to start new conversations and to mix / mess / mash / fuck things up. Yes there are pockets of Entrepreneurialism here in Europe, it’s a French work for godness sake, however, today October 14, 2015, the good ol USA is clearly in the top spot for, in my experiences (41 countries visited and counting) and humble opinion, Entrepreneurialism. Not that Europeans aren’t yearning to do their own things and live their passionate lives, they just don’t have the same mechanisms and supporting casts like we Americans do. So I’m always helping pushing people to do what they love, and suggesting books to help get them started. So is our fellow ESC and KPI member Chris Jenkins aka I’m Their Web Guy, who helps run the ESC while I’m off playing Johnny Entrepreneurial Seed across Europe!
See every Thursday night, most always at my wedding and event venue NOVA 535, we meet for drinks and smokes, laughs and hugs and stories and for helping each other become better business people, better Entrepreneurs and better humans – all via my Entrepreneur Social Club – where we FORBID religion and politics. Funny how we seem to always get along. My suggestion to save our species = ride the world of politics. It’s like Polio and Cancer, all bad, no bueno.

One of my favorites, Napoleon Hill, according to Wikipedia, “was an American author in the area of the new thought movement who was one of the earliest producers of the modern genre of personal-success literature.” Napoleon was born October 26, 1883, and died November 8, 1970. He was WAY WAY ahead of his time. His words are like gold – old but always valuable.
